Brie
Age: 2 Sex: Female Colors: Red/Rust Ears/Tail: Cropped/docked Location: Tullahoma, TN Adoption Fee: $350 Meet Brie, a 2 year old red female that is looking for her forever home. Brie is a high-energy dog who requires a lot of attention. She is a big barker and needs plenty of room to run, so she is not suitable for apartments. It is important to have a fenced yard for Brie, as she tends to bark loudly when inside the fence. This might cause concerns among neighbors and could be an issue if you have an HOA. Brie does not get along well with female dogs or small dogs, and she is best suited for households with children over 10 who understand a dog's personal space. While Brie can cohabitate with a submissive male dog, it is also fine for her to be the only dog in the household. She loves to learn and is highly motivated by treats. She responds well to training with a prong collar and enjoys activities like fetch, catch, and tug of war. Due to her alpha nature, Brie should not be taken to dog parks or doggy daycare for the safety of other dogs. Brie enjoys mental stimulation and loves doggy puzzles, stuffed Kongs, and snuffle mats. She is also comfortable walking or running on a treadmill. While she tolerates baths, she dislikes having her nails done and may vocalize her discomfort. Brie knows basic commands such as sit, front, release, shake with both paws, wait, focus, and leave it. She is eager to perform these commands for treats and is still learning some with intermittent rewards. Brie is nervous in crowded places, and it is best to avoid busy environments like PetSmart. She does better in quieter locations with minimal foot traffic. Although crate trained, Brie may bark and run in circles before settling down. She also exhibits extreme energy and tends to run circles around the dining room table, even after sufficient exercise. Brie enjoys soft squeaky toys but has a tendency to shred dog beds and suck holes in blankets. It is important to note that if Brie is upset, she may look you in the eye and urinate in protest. This behavior occurs when she is denied something she wants or when she is told not to engage in certain activities. Brie requires an active person or family who enjoys outdoor adventures. Hiking and activities like fast cat, dock diving, and agility training could be suitable for her with proper training. Brie loves riding in the truck and is not a couch potato. She is not particularly snuggly or cuddly but does tolerate a good butt scratch. It is important to prepare any dog walker or sitter for Brie's behavior, as she may startle them. Brie was previously adopted but returned after only four days, and even a couple with ample space and an active lifestyle felt she was too much to handle. Many potential adopters have passed on her once they learn about her specific needs. While Brie loves her food, she requires her face to be scratched on either side before eating. Brie is currently being fostered in Middle Tennessee.
